The BIG Weekend

Greyson had a big weekend this past Saturday. The first event was his very first soccer game. We signed him up for this group called the Ripples. It is basically a little group of 12 under 4 kids who spend the first 50 minutes of the 'game' doing drills and such and then the last 10 minutes doing a scrimmage. It is pretty laid back and the groups are lead by some teenage soccer players from the league. We had been gearing him up for this all week. He was sooo excited to go play soccer. We got there and.....he HATED it. While all the other kids were kicking balls and running down the field my child was standing in the corner of the field sucking his thumb. Even when Raif and I tried to help him (ie we would run down the field with the other kids) he would just stand there and wanted NOTHING to do with the whole experience. On the flip side my lovely daughter stood on the sidelines screaming for an hour "Mommy I want to play soccer!!!" Oy vey what a morning. Thankfully we have 7 more of these left. Yipeee. Ironically Greyson was very upset when his soccer game was over. Go figure.
The other big event for the weekend was Greyson's first sleepover with his friend Yohannes. Considering how well soccer went I assumed that we would be picking Greyson up about 20 minutes after we dropped him off. Suprisingly, though that wasn't the case. He did fine with Raif leaving him and had a great time with Yohannes. They went to the zoo, watched Ms. Patricia put a lawn mower together and ate pizza and Greyson slept in his first sleeping bag.

Perhaps what we need is to put Yohannes on Greyson's soccer team......
